NTZMK
NTZMK (part of the "Metal Structures and Facilities" division of the NEС Group) has commissioned an industrial X-ray flaw detection system. The unit allows for the X-ray inspection of welded joints, identifying hidden internal defects without damaging the structure itself. The new equipment is designed to inspect steel components up to 40 mm thick. NTZMK is the only manufacturer in the region utilizing such a system for this type of inspection.
This new equipment is particularly valuable for the production of structures subject to stringent quality and reliability requirements. These include metal structures for the petrochemical industry and industrial furnaces, as well as stainless steel products.
The upgrade has significantly accelerated the inspection process. The new unit reaches operating status in just 5–10 seconds, whereas the previous equipment required approximately one and a half minutes. The flaw detector is also capable of operating throughout an entire shift with continuous radiation cycles of up to 30 minutes, thereby reducing the number of operational pauses.
The resulting images enable laboratory specialists to detect even hidden weld defects—such as porosity, incomplete penetration, lack of fusion, and slag inclusions. Inspection results are logged into the corporate "1C:UPP" system. Production supervisors receive the findings within an hour and can promptly send a part for rework if necessary. This reduces inspection time and minimizes the risk of delays during subsequent production stages and equipment assembly at client sites.
