Alteon
Alteon, part of NEC Group’s Metal Structures and Facilities division, has completed the installation of ventilated facades and plinth cladding at the facilities of the South Yakutsk Thermal Power Plant currently under construction in Chulman, Neryungri District, Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).
At three station buildings, the company’s specialists installed nearly 4,000 sq. m. of steel facade cassettes. For comparison, this is more than half the area of a standard football field. At another eight facilities, more than 1,600 linear meters of plinths were clad with porcelain stoneware tiles – 1.6 kilometers in total.
The work was carried out around the clock, with up to 70 specialists working at the construction site each day. The team also took into account the seismic characteristics of the region.
The delivery of materials to the site presented a separate challenge: the distance from Alteon’s production base to the South Yakutsk Thermal Power Plant exceeds 7,500 kilometers. The project required more than 1,000 cubic meters of insulation, with 13 trucks needed just to transport it.
Another three trucks delivered porcelain stoneware tiles, while around 10 vehicles transported facade substructure components and steel cassettes. In total, approximately 26 trucks were required to deliver the main materials. More than 10 tonnes of cargo were transported to the construction site by air.
