The “Green Charge” environmental marathon, a corporate project of the NEC Group, took place in Yekaterinburg. The event was organized by the NEC High-Voltage Solutions division. Yekaterinburg became the fourth city to host the project, following Cherepovets, Cheboksary and Kovrov.

The environmental marathon brought together 70 participants, including employees and members of the Youth Council of the NEC High-Voltage Solutions division, students of the Yekaterinburg Energy College and volunteers. The event was also attended by Igor Rusinov, Chairman of the Committee for Ecology and Environmental Management of the Yekaterinburg City Administration.

“This is the first time an initiative such as the ‘Green Charge’ has been held in the city. Events like this undoubtedly contribute to improving Yekaterinburg’s environmental well-being. An environmental cleanup at a water body, in this case a flooded quarry, makes an important contribution to protecting the city’s natural environment, especially since the Southwest Forest Park, a specially protected natural area of regional significance, is located nearby,” Igor Rusinov said.

The participants were divided into five teams and completed three stages: an environmental quiz, a series of team challenges testing speed and ingenuity, and the main challenge – cleaning up the shoreline. Within 60 minutes, the teams cleaned the shore of Lake Ramada, competing to collect the largest amount of waste.

According to the results of the marathon, first place went to the team of students fr om the Yekaterinburg Energy College, second place was awarded to the Youth Council of the NEC High-Voltage Solutions division, and third place went to employees of the NEC High-Voltage Solutions division. In total, the participants collected 850 kg of waste.

“Yekaterinburg was the final stop of this year’s ‘Green Charge’. The project took place in four cities and showed that environmental volunteering can truly be a team-oriented and engaging activity. It is important for us that ‘Green Charge’ brings people together around a meaningful cause and gives them an opportunity to work together on something that makes a real difference. We expect the project to expand its geographical reach and attract even more participants next year,” said Semyon Rabkin, Head of the Marketing and Communications Center at NEC JSC.

“For us, taking part in ‘Green Charge’ is an opportunity not only to support an environmental initiative, but also to strengthen our team. Company employees and members of the Youth Council worked alongside students and volunteers. This is a great example of a corporate culture based on responsibility and cooperation,” said Vitaly Polovinin, Executive Director of NEC High-Voltage Solutions LLC.

“Green Charge” is an environmental project of the NEC Group that brings together employees, young people and residents of the regions wh ere the Group operates to promote environmental responsibility. In 2026, the marathon was held in four cities – Cherepovets, Cheboksary, Kovrov and Yekaterinburg. Almost 300 people took part in the project and collectively collected more than 3.2 tonnes of waste.
