Moselectroshield will supply four kilometres of busways to the Leningrad NPP

Moselectroshield (part of the NEC Group) will manufacture generator‑voltage busways – 10 kV and 24 kV – for power units No. 3 and No. 4 of Leningrad NPP‑2.
For the facilities under construction, Moselectroshield will supply 4 kilometres of busways that meet the highest reliability and safety requirements for nuclear power generation. The busways will be equipped with current and voltage transformers manufactured by Electroshield‑K° (part of the NEC Group).
The busways will be manufactured at the company’s facility in the city of Kovrov, where new production capacities for busbar trunking systems were launched last year. The plant’s production capabilities allow it to manufacture up to 12,000 metres of busbar trunking systems per year.
To date, more than 400,000 linear metres of the plant’s busways and busbar trunking systems are in operation: they are successfully used in the power sector and industry across all regions of Russia, in CIS countries, and in a number of foreign states.
The Leningrad NPP is one of Russia’s largest nuclear power plants in terms of installed capacity (over 4,370 MW) and the only one in the country where power units with two types of reactors – RBMK‑1000 and VVER‑1200 – are operated at the same site. Construction of power units No. 3 and No. 4 with VVER‑1200 reactors at the Leningrad NPP began in 2022; they are intended to replace the capacity of the power units with RBMK‑1000 reactors. The planned commissioning dates are 2030 and 2032.
Extending the service life of the Leningrad NPP will help maintain and enhance the reliability of Russia’s power system, minimise the growth of electricity prices for consumers, and ensure the presence of carbon‑free energy sources in the energy mix of the Russian Federation.
