NEC Group engineer finishes among the top three at PetroChemSkills 2026
NEC
Unitel Engineering
Pavel Dmitriev, an industrial automation engineer at Unitel Engineering, took third place in the “Digital Substation” competency at SIBUR’s 7th Open Industry Professional Skills Championship, NeftekHimSkills/PetroChemSkills 2026.
The competition was held in Tobolsk. Over the course of 10 hours, participants completed practical tasks simulating work at real-world power facilities: reviewing a digital substation project, configuring communication between equipment and automation systems, working with relay protection devices, analyzing emergency events, and identifying the causes of operational failures.
For Unitel Engineering, this is the company’s second prize-winning result in the “Digital Substation” competency in two years of participation in the championship. In 2025, a company specialist took second place.
Pavel Dmitriev was joined in the competition by Maxim Rastorguev, an industrial automation engineer at Unitel Engineering, who participated as a compatriot expert.
NEC Group’s participation in PetroChemSkills 2026 went beyond the competition itself. Specialists from the Group’s companies took part in the business program with presentations on solutions for the energy and industrial sectors and showcased the Group’s technologies at the exhibition.

In our industry, a specialist’s skill level is best demonstrated through practice. Knowing the theory is not enough – you need to be able to understand a complex system, find a solution, and take responsibility for the result. It is particularly valuable for us that our specialists have been among the prize winners for the second year in a row. This reflects a strong engineering school, experience gained through real-world projects, and continuous professional development within the Group.
