"NEC.TECH" Acquires Digital Testing Facility CITM "EKSPONENTA"

The scientific and technical center of "NEC TECH" LLC (part of the "NEC" Group) has acquired a hardware and software system for semi-naturalistic modeling and testing of relay protection and automation devices from the Engineering Technology and Modeling Center "EKSPONENTA" LLC.

One of "NEC.TECH's" areas of activity is the development of relay protection and automation systems (RPA), as well as emergency control systems (ECS) for electric power facilities. These systems ensure the stable operation of the electrical grid and the synchronous operation of its individual components in post-emergency conditions, as well as localize and prevent system failures. For "NEC.TECH", a new test rig with the KPM RITM real-time hardware and software system will become the primary environment for designing and debugging its own line of relay protection and automation terminals for voltages of 6-35 kV and 110-220 kV.

Testing relay protection and automation terminals for voltages of 6-35 kV and 110-220 kV is necessary to assess their compliance with regulatory and functional requirements. The installed hardware and software system enables the following: identifying potential defects in the operation of relay protection and automation devices; assessing the reliability and stability of the system by simulating delays between signal transmissions and switching to backup communication channels; and verifying the correct operation of the relay protection and automation terminals.

During commissioning, specialists from the Exponenta Testing and Management Center set up the rig using the KPM RITM and a PONOVO amplifier, and also tested and connected the relay protection and automation terminal to the rig. This confirmed the operability of the entire system in conjunction with "NEC.TECH" equipment.

Exponenta's CITM specialists also held a practical workshop for "NEC.TECH" engineers on working with modeling tools, creating test scenarios, and effectively using the system's capabilities.
"NEC.TECH's" collaboration with Exponenta's CITM will facilitate the creation of reliable, modern, and competitive solutions for the domestic electric power industry.
