On September 29, the NEC.TECH Research and Development Center, part of NEC Group, and Astra Group signed a Technology Cooperation Agreement at the Microelectronics 2026 Forum in Sochi. The partnership is aimed at developing Russian-made data acquisition and transmission devices with information security functions for critical information infrastructure (CII) facilities in the power industry.

The agreement was signed by Denis Koval, Technical Director of the NEC.TECH Research and Development Center, and Mikhail Gellerman, Director of the Operating Systems Department at Astra Group.

The parties plan to jointly develop devices for widespread use in industrial automation and control systems at power industry facilities. The project is being implemented as part of the efforts to fulfill decrees of the President of the Russian Federation on information security and strengthening the country’s technological sovereignty.

“NEC.TECH is one of Russia’s leading developers of communication and measurement devices. Astra Group’s Russian-made software will enable us to develop digital infrastructure, improve our own IT products, and provide a foundation for new joint projects. Our cooperation with Astra Group is of strategic importance for ensuring the technological independence of NEC Group’s integrated solutions, which are widely used at power facilities operated by leading companies in the industry, including Inter RAO PJSC, Rosseti PJSC, RusHydro PJSC, and Rosenergoatom Concern JSC, among others. Our joint projects will make an important contribution to ensuring our country’s technological independence,” said Dmitry Zaretsky, CEO of NEC TECH LLC.

“Astra Group sees the agreement with NEC.TECH as a practical step toward deploying Russian-made system software at critical information infrastructure facilities in the energy sector. Our embedded edition, Astra Linux Embedded, will provide data acquisition and transmission devices with the required level of security and operational stability, while joint development with NEC.TECH will demonstrate how Russian technologies can complement one another,” said Mikhail Gellerman, Director of the Operating Systems Department at Astra Group.

The agreement marks an important step toward consolidating the efforts of leading Russian developers to create reliable and secure solutions that ensure the stable operation of Russia’s critical infrastructure.
