NTZMK commissions a unique milling complex for large‑scale metal structures

NTZMK (part of the NEC Group) has commissioned a high‑speed three‑axis milling and drilling machine with a moving gantry – the VISTA (BDMH3018) – equipment that has no analogues in the world.
Commissioning the equipment expands the enterprise’s technological capabilities and is aimed at improving the accuracy and speed of manufacturing beams and columns used in industrial and infrastructure construction.
The machine was manufactured to an individual order by Chinese developers specifically for the enterprise’s tasks. Equipped with a main rotary milling head with a power of 50 kW and side heads of 45 kW each, it performs a full range of operations in a single cycle – from preliminary milling of the flange contact surface to final processing in automatic mode.
The equipment enables metal structures to be processed in five planes simultaneously without repositioning the workpiece, performing drilling, countersinking, marking, engraving and milling of side surfaces. The ability to drill technological holes in a beam while it is in the assembled state significantly improves the accuracy of structure fabrication.
The machine is designed for processing large‑scale items – beams and columns up to 14 metres long, 3 metres wide and 1.8 metres high. This will allow the enterprise to expand its product range and increase production capacity.
A dedicated site was created to accommodate the equipment: the floors were dismantled and a foundation with an area of 335 m² was built, designed to withstand the vibration loads and the machine’s weight of 140 tonnes.
Introducing the new equipment has made it possible to replace outdated facilities for processing the ends of metal structures and to expand the enterprise’s production capabilities when fulfilling complex orders.
