NTZMK has shipped over 2,000 tons of metal structures for Almaty CHP-3

NTZMK (a part of the NEC Group) has completed another phase of deliveries for a major energy project in Kazakhstan. Over 2,000 tons of metal structures required for the construction of key facilities at the new Almaty CHP-3 have been delivered to the construction site. Under the contract, the plant will supply the customer with more than 2,700 tons of products in total.

The modernization of CHP-3, originally commissioned in 1962, is driven by the critical wear of existing equipment and insufficient efficiency of current capacities. The project involves building a new power facility with enhanced capacity and operational flexibility.

NTZMK is manufacturing metal structures for the boiler house and smokestacks of the combined heat and power plant, including lattice and solid-wall columns for the main framework. These structural elements ensure building rigidity and withstand high wind, thermal, and operational loads.

The new CHP-3 will operate in a combined cycle, generating both electricity and thermal energy. A key technological upgrade will be replacing outdated coal-pulverized systems with modern gas-steam power units with a capacity of up to 450 MW, running on natural gas. The complete transition of the plant from coal to gas will significantly improve environmental performance and minimize the environmental impact on the region. The new CHP-3 is scheduled to be commissioned in 2026.
