NTZMK (part of the NEC Group) has successfully completed a two‑year project to modernise the heavy gantry crane MKKS‑32. The upgraded crane has started operating at the new section of the finished goods warehouse – the expansion was necessary due to the rapid growth in orders. The technical upgrade will reduce loading time and help the enterprise increase its annual production capacity to 50 000 tonnes of metal structures by 2030.
The modernisation programme, costing over 22 million roubles, extended the equipment’s service life and significantly updated its systems. During the works, specialists fully repaired the crane runway tracks, replaced the sleepers and levelled the foundation. Engineers dismantled the cantilever on the operator’s cabin side – this improved the operator’s visibility and reduced the structure’s windage. A key stage was the electronics upgrade: all crane mechanisms were switched to modern frequency‑controlled electric drives. Now the 32‑tonne crane moves smoothly, handles loads with high precision and consumes less electricity. Finally, the crane’s body was cleaned of corrosion and coated with durable protective paint.
The crane was fully commissioned in early June, immediately after the final industrial safety inspection. The equipment upgrade will help the plant avoid delays during loading and enable faster shipment of orders to customers.
