Tula region plant begins production of fire-resistant turbine oil
«NEK» Group has officially inaugurated the first phase of a new plant for the production of fire-resistant turbine oil in the Tula region. This marks a significant milestone, as Russia currently lacks similar production facilities.
The opening ceremony was attended by Mikhail Yurin, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation; Mikhail Panteleev, First Deputy Governor of the Tula Region and Chairman of the Tula Regional Government; Alexander Korechev, General Director of NEK JSC; Dmitry Filatov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of NEK JSC, Advisor to the General Director; and Eduard Gavrilov, General Director of the plant.
The construction of the plant was made possible after the signing of an investment agreement with the Tula region at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum in 2023.
Russian energy companies such as «Inter RAO» Group, «Rosenergoatom» Concern, «Gazprom Energoholding», «Unipro», and «EL5-Energo» utilize fire-resistant turbine oil in high-power oil-filled equipment. Prior to 2023, all fire-resistant oil used in Russia was imported.
The plant, covering an area of 3250 square meters, is equipped with modern equipment, primarily of domestic origin, and is capable of producing 1200 tons of high-quality fire-resistant oil annually. The facility currently employs over 80 people. Investments in the first phase of the new plant exceeded 1 billion rubles.
«Our goal is to meet the needs of Russian energy generating companies for high-quality fire-resistant turbine oil, a unique product on the Russian market,” emphasized the plant's General Director. “It's precisely the quality that makes our oil indispensable for ensuring the safety and efficiency of energy facilities.”
The completion of the second phase of construction and commissioning is scheduled for the end of 2025. After that, the plant's production capacity will exceed 2500 tons per year of complex chemical products, and the workforce will increase to 150 employees.
The opening of such a facility is a significant event for the Tula region and the country as a whole. The project contributes to the technological independence and sovereignty of Russia's energy sector.
