Unitel Engineering
Unitel Engineering (part of the NEC Group) has completed the supply of equipment, as well as the full range of installation and commissioning works for the 220 kV Vitim substation in the Irkutsk Region. The project’s implementation has become an important stage in preparing the energy infrastructure for connecting future production facilities at the Sukhoi Log deposit — one of the world’s largest in terms of gold reserves.
The Vitim substation, located in the Bodaybo District of the Irkutsk Region, will ensure reliable electricity supply to enterprises being created as part of the development of the strategically significant deposit. The development of energy infrastructure is a key condition for launching future gold mining capacities in the region.
As part of the project, Unitel Engineering specialists supplied equipment for setting up communication and data transmission systems of the power facility: communication power supply cabinets; transport communication systems equipment; public address communication equipment; technological data transmission network equipment.
In addition to equipment supply, the company’s specialists carried out the full cycle of installation and commissioning works, ensuring the readiness of all systems for industrial operation.
The implemented set of solutions creates a reliable technological foundation for the stable operation of the substation and the further development of the Sukhoi Log deposit’s infrastructure. According to expert estimates, the explored reserves of the deposit amount to approximately 1 220 tonnes of gold, while the total resources reach 2 300 tonnes. This makes Sukhoi Log one of the largest gold ore projects in Russia and the world, with a development potential for decades to come.
