Unitel Engineering
Unitel Engineering (part of the NEC Group) has taken part in implementing an infrastructure project at the Eastern Polygon of Russian Railways (RZD), delivering equipment to the 220 kV Baikal Switching Station (SS).
As part of the project, components for industrial and technological communication networks have been supplied, along with systems that ensure the transmission of control commands, relay protection and emergency automation.
The 220 kV Baikal Switching Station is a key element of the new power transit line from Komsomolsk‑na‑Amure to the Vanino port zone. Commissioning the facility will enable power supply to eleven traction substations and increase the throughput capacity of the railway infrastructure.
The Eastern Polygon of RZD is a priority area for the development of Russia’s railway infrastructure, encompassing sections of the Trans‑Siberian and Baikal‑Amur Mainlines. Projects implemented on the polygon are aimed at expanding throughput capacity and supporting the growth of freight traffic in the eastern direction.
Unitel Engineering’s equipment ensures the operation of telephone communication channels, dispatcher telephony, telemechanics and high‑speed data transmission, and also supports the stability of the power system and the facility’s technological processes.
The switching station is an open switchgear facility covering approximately 10 hectares and equipped with modern domestic equipment. Technological processes are managed using automated systems.
